This cross has the words Jesus Messiah carved into the body. Before the birth of Christ the people of Judea were waiting, hoping for a Messiah to come and rid them of the Romans. When God poured Himself into the body of the infant child Jesus, the Messiah was at last, truely born. His ministry was however, not only aimed at the Judeans, but ultimately all of mankind. He came, not to deal with the Romans (no great task for Jesus)in this world, but to grant eternal life to those who believed in Him and followed in His ways. We are born first into this world through our mother's womb just as Jesus was. But it is in the rebirth in the Spirit of Christ and taking on the role of witness and disciple that we gain eternal life. Jesus the redeemer came to show us the way.
